Big East announces 2021-22 conference schedule

Folks... it’s almost time.

Big East Men’s Basketball Tournament - Finals

Folks, the waiting is almost over.

The Big East announced the 2021-22 conference schedule on Thursday. The 11 teams in the league now know when they’ll be facing their adversaries this coming winter. And that’s a lovely sight, isn’t it?

The Creighton Bluejays and Villanova Wildcats are set to tip conference play off on December 17. Creighton and ‘Nova obviously have plenty of history over the last eight seasons since the Jays flew to the conference. (Side note: It’s been eight seasons! How wild is that?) The next day, Providence and UConn rekindle their rivalry while Marquette and Xavier tango in Cincinnati. On Monday, December 20, St. John’s and Seton Hall do battle in a classic encounter between the New Jersey and New York schools. And the Jays are back in action again, as they head to Chicago to battle with DePaul.

Georgetown is poised to open conference play on December 22. The Hoyas will head up I-95 and land in Friartown to take on Providence. And finally, the Butler Bulldogs open up conference play on December 23 when they face St. John’s.

New Year’s Day will see plenty of Big East action. Five games are set to go down, with big matchups galore. St. John’s and Georgetown will renew their longstanding rivalry, as will Seton Hall and Villanova. Butler and UConn will meet again (location TBD), while Providence squares off with DePaul. Last but not least, Creighton and Marquette will tangle in Milwaukee in what’s sure to be an intriguing affair.

The final day of the season on March 5 will offer up five games of high intrigue, too. Villanova will head to Hinkle Fieldhouse, a place that’s given them trouble over the years, to face the Dawgs. Additionally, Seton Hall meets Creighton, DePaul takes on UConn, Georgetown battles Xavier, and St. John’s faces off with Marquette.

Our exciting is beginning to simmer, and we hope yours is as well!
