Greetings, Big East Coast Bias readers. My name is Oliver P. Gold, and I will begin serving as a new writer on the Big East Coast Bias Team. I am extremely excited for the opportunity, and can't wait to get going.
This year, I will be entering my senior year of high school in Providence, Rhode Island. Writing has always been something that I have enjoyed, and I began writing about sports in February with VAVEL USA.
At eight years old, my parents thought it would be best to move away from Los Angeles, California to Providence, Rhode Island to be closer to my family. In California, I began to follow the NBA closely, but never really became interested in college basketball. However, as I began to get older, I began to follow the Providence Friars closely, and therefore became a big follower of the Big East as a whole.
I first began to follow the Friars closely in 2011. Bryce Cotton immediately became my favorite player, as I loved watching the small guard score at will. The first games I attended were NIT games in 2013, as I saw Cotton lead the Friars to victory over Charlotte and Robert Morris. Since then, I have been to several games, and enjoy them a lot.
Last season, I followed the Big East more than ever before. I tried watching as many games as I could, and covered many of them on VAVEL USA. Watching Villanova hold up the trophy is something I will never forget, and now that I get to cover the Big East once again with Big East Coast Bias, I am more excited than ever to see the action that will take place this season.
Thank you, and I can’t wait for college basketball to get under way, as I am sure most of you are as well.
