Newsbits

Shamorie Ponds will be making his commitment announcement on Tuesday. In the running for Ponds' services are Minnesota, Creighton, St. John's and Providence. The Friars picked up a commitment from 2016 point guard Maliek White which will likely keep them in the running and the Red Storm are currently the favorites to land his services. Stay tuned to BECB tomorrow for any and all updates.

~ 2017 point guard Trevon Duval, formerly of Newark, New Jersey and now attending API in Dallas, Texas, will be visited by the Villanova Wildcats coaching staff this week. Duval is the top-ranked point guard in the Class of 2017 and has a standing over from the 'Cats, along with several notable high-major schools.

~ Xavier Sneed, a Xavier target (coincidentally!) chose Kansas State over the Musketeers on Monday afternoon. Best of luck to Sneed in the future.

2017 guard Tyshon Alexander visited Creighton on Monday.

Also deciding tomorrow is power forward Chris Baldwin of Springfield, Massachusetts. Baldwin has DePaul and Creighton among his final choices, along with West Virginia and UMass.

~ Finally, an interesting tidbit. Thon Maker, the celebrated big man whose choices were thought to be between Arizona State and Indiana was visited by well-known recruiter "Slice" Rohrssen on Monday according to ESPN's Jeff Borzello. This might just be SJU doing their due diligence, but in any event, they might make some waves with this one...
