Former St. John's second baseman Joe Panik is continuing a strong second season in MLB with the news Monday that he had been selected to his first MLB All-Star Team.
Panik was selected by Giants manager Bruce Bochy and his coaching staff to play for the National League in the Mid-Summer Classic, which will be played at Cincinnati's Great American Ball Park on July 14, and shown on FOX.
Panik is hitting .304 on the season with six home runs and 30 RBI's. He is the first St. John's baseball player to be selected to an All-Star team since Rich Aurillia, coincidentally also a San Francisco Giant, in 2001.
