GEORGETOWN! SYRACUSE! IT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING!

According to our friends over at Casual Hoya, Georgetown will host Syracuse on December 5 at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. No time has been announced thus far, however Fox Sports 1 will televise the game.

As part of an agreement announced last year, the Hoyas and the Orange will play a four year home-and-home series beginning with this match up in December. Syracuse will host Georgetown at an unannounced date in 2016.

Syracuse leads the all-time series record, owning a 49-41 advantage. This will be the first time the two historic programs meet in the regular season since Georgetown defeated Syracuse 61-39 to clinch the 2012-13 Big East Regular Season title, also at the Verizon Center. Their last ever conference match up was won by the Orange, a 58-55 win in the 2013 Big East Tournament.

Georgetown coach John Thompson III, speaking to ESPN in a statement from June 2014, believes that the four-year deal is just a number and that this rivalry will continue.

"The length of the deal may just be a formality. I don't ever see this not happening. This is something that is important to our program and to college basketball."

To accommodate this game, Georgetown will take a year off from their series against Kansas. I don't think many people are too upset about this.

So mark your calendars. Take off from work. Call your mother, tell her you won't be home for supper. Georgetown and Syracuse are coming

h/t to Casual Hoya. Follow them. They do cool stuff.
