St. John's will be looking for a new Athletic Director as Chris Monasch was relieved of his duties Thursday morning. CBS was the first to report the news, and the New York Daily News later confirmed it.
Monasch was at the helm since 2005, and led the Red Storm through their journey into the New Big East. There were also some scandals during his tenure, though, as the Daily News points out.
Golfer Keegan Bradley used to have a St. John's logo on his bag, but removed it after Monasch fired St. John's golf coach Frank Darby and did not even extend an interview to a potential replacement recommended by Bradley.
The news comes some 24 hours after Monasch joined Chris Mullin at Yankee Stadium Wednesday afternoon when Mullin threw out the first pitch.
We will have more on this story as it develops.
UPDATE: According to the school's press release, Monasch is "stepping down" on June 30. Read the release in full right here.
