Former Massachusetts Minutemen guard Derrick Gordon is on his way to Seton Hall University.
Gordon confirmed the move on his Twitter account on Sunday evening. While at UMass, he averaged 9.8 and 9.4 points per game in his sophomore and freshman seasons respectively. The Plainfield, New Jersey resident gets to stay local in The Garden State at his new home where he'll be welcomed by head coach Kevin Willard, Angel Delgado, Isaiah Whitehead, et al.
Gordon will be immediately eligible for the Pirates.
Derrick is NCAA Division 1 men's basketball's first openly gay player. SB Nation's Outsports website has a fantastic longform profile on him written by Cyd Ziegler here.
We wish Gordon the best of luck as a Pirate going forward.
