Yankuba Sima commits to St. John's

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

The St. John's Red Storm netted a commitment on Monday afternoon from Class of 2015 center Yankuba Sima.

Sima, listed at 6-foot-11, 215 lbs., is from Jacksonville, Florida and currently plays for Elev8 Sports Institute. He is a three-star center per 247sports' Composite Rankings and is the 20th best player in the state of Florida and 17th best in the country.

Sima is set to turn 19 in July. The big man gives the Red Storm a boost in the paint and adds to an already good recruiting class. Sima joins Darien Williams (San Francisco, CA), Samir Doughty (Philadelphia, PA) and Sammy Barnes-Thompkins (Phoenix, AZ) and the Johnnies are still in play for the likes of No. 1 power forward in the country Cheick Diallo as well as former commit Brandon Sampson.
