Illinois-Chicago vs. DePaul: Halftime Notes

The Blue Demons looked solid in the first half of their cross-town matchup against UIC.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

DePaul currently leads 46-30 at halftime.

- Attendance has always been an issue for DePaul.  Whether it's playing at Allstate Arena, which is too far from campus, or having a down season, the Blue Demons can never seem to fill the arena.  Tonight, the stands are packed at McGrath-Phillips Arena.  It's likely due to the fact that tonight was a doubleheader (DePaul's Women's Basketball team took on Texas A&M earlier), but I will gladly chalk this one up to fan optimism.

- DePaul's defense was simply phenomenal in the first half.  They've managed to steal the ball five times and they have limited UIC to 33% shooting from the field, which can be largely due to the relentless press that the Blue Demons exhibited in the first half.

-  Tommy Hamilton has been doing an insane amount of work in the first half, making his presence felt on both ends of the court.  He's managing to pull down rebounds and force tough shots from the Flames.  He has been all over it so far.  Forrest Robinson has also looked great, knocking down 3/4 threes.

- DePaul may be forcing turnovers like it's nobody's business, but they have not been returning the favor.  They've only turned it over once so far.

Here's to an exciting second half.
