Veitner, Upton, Miller Score Final Weekly Field Hockey Awards - BIGEAST.com
What a surprise, as UConn's Charlotte Veitner caps off an extraordinary season in Storrs with yet ANOTHER Offensive Player of the Week award. This is the eight time that Veitner, a sophomore from Dusseldorf, Germany, picked up the honor this season. She led the way with four goals against Georgetown in an 8-0 victory last week, and finished the season as the BIG EAST leader in goals and assists with 34 and 18 respectively.
Fellow UConn Husky Roisin Upton was a stalwart in net, giving way to being selected as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. Whilst in net against the Hoyas, she pitched a shutout, making it the 12th such occasion this season and the Huskies have not allowed a goal in their last five games. Finally, for the second straight week Villanova's Erika Miller is the Freshman of the Week after a terrific performance in goal in a loss against the Temple Owls.
