Big East offer tracker (Aug. 31): 4-star Weston is Hall In, final cuts, new offers, and more!

Final update before September.

NCAA Basketball: Villanova at Seton Hall Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

It was looking like another quiet week of recruiting, until four-star guard Brandon Weston (Brooklyn, N.Y./Hillcrest Prep) announced his commitment to Seton Hall on Sunday afternoon.

He’s the latest addition to a solid 2021 class for Seton Hall, which also includes four-star guard Ryan Conway (Baltimore, Md./Dulaney) and three-star forward Tyler Powell (Los Angeles, Calif./Ribet Academy).

Creighton also added a walk-on in Andrew Merfeld (Omaha, Neb./Skutt Catholic).

Here is all the action from this past week:

New commits:

  • 2020 guard Andrew Merfeld (Omaha, Neb./Skutt Catholic) joins Creighton as a walk-on.
  • Four-star, 2021 guard Brandon Weston (Brooklyn, N.Y./Hillcrest Prep) committed to Seton Hall.

  • 2022 guard Rowan Brumbaugh (Washington, D.C./Northfield Mount Hermon) received an offer from Georgetown.
  • Four-star, 2021 guard Bryce Hopkins (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) received an offer from DePaul.

  • 2022 guard Masai Troutman (Frederick, Md./St. Andrew’s Episcopal) received an offer from Georgetown.

Final cuts:

  • Three-star, 2021 forward Legend Geeter (Detroit, Mich./River Rouge) included Providence and Georgetown in his final five list.
  • Recent Louisville decommit, four-star 2021 guard Bryce Hopkins (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) included Providence in his final nine list, but cut DePaul.
  • Five-star, 2021 forward Brandon Huntley-Hatfield (Clarksville, Tenn./IMG Academy) cut Georgetown from his list, as he narrowed his list down from 11 to eight schools.
  • Four-star, 2021 guard Blake Wesley (South Bend, Ind./James W. Riley) cut his list down to 12 schools. Creighton and Xavier made the cut, but DePaul and Butler did not.

  • Three-star, 2021 guard Sean Durugordon (Queens, N.Y./Putnam Science Academy) committed to Missouri. Also had DePaul and Seton Hall in his final eight list.

Other notes:

  1. If you notice an error, have news of a new offer, please feel free to tip me off—or Big East Coast Bias—on Twitter: @becb_sbn and @erapay5. I’ll update accordingly.
  2. Shoutout to Anonymous Eagle, Casual Hoya, Banners on the Parkway, Rumble in the Garden, The UConn Blog, and VU Hoops. We unfortunately don’t have articles on all recruits, but we got some help in filling some blanks from our fellow Big East SB Nation sites. Some recruits have clickable names, which will take you to a relevant article regarding that player.
  3. I recommend viewing the spreadsheet externally, since you’ll be able to use things like filters (Google Sheets has that option on the top-left, next to the print button.) and Ctrl+F (Apple+F if you’re on Mac) to help make searching for recruits easier. You’ll also have a bigger screen/window to look at the spreadsheet: Big East Offer Tracker, last updated Aug. 31, 2020. Alternatively, you may view below.
