Big East offer tracker (Aug. 3): ‘Nova, DePaul, Hoyas secure commitments, more transfers, new offers, and final cuts

A couple of new commits, transfers, and decisions.

NCAA Basketball: Villanova at DePaul Matt Marton-USA TODAY Sports

The Villanova Wildcats stayed hot on the recruiting trail, securing another commitment, this time from three-star 2021 guard Angelo Brizzi (Warrenton, Va./Highland). The verbal commitment boosted the Wildcats to the top spot for a couple of days on 247 sports’ team recruiting rankings for the class of 2021.

Villanova has seen been supplanted by Florida State, who added four-star center John Butler Jr., but the ‘Cats are still sitting nicely at No. 2.

The DePaul Blue Demons also secured a commitment this past week, with Brett Hardt Jr. (Scottsdale, Ariz./Phoenix Prep) becoming the third member of Dave Leitao’s 2021 recruiting class shortly after receiving an offer from them.

The Blue Demons had more action on the transfer portal, with Lyrik Shreiner leaving. The Xavier Musketeers added a solid pickup in Hampton transfer Ben Stanley, who was one of the top scorers in college hoops last season.

The Georgetown Hoyas got a commit to conclude the weekend, with three-star 2021 forward Jalin Billingsley (Hudson, Ohio/Lutheran East) becoming the Hoyas’ third commit for in the class.

Other notes:

  1. If you notice an error, have news of a new offer, please feel free to tip me off—or Big East Coast Bias—on Twitter: @becb_sbn and @erapay5. I’ll update accordingly.
  2. Shoutout to Anonymous Eagle, Casual Hoya, Banners on the Parkway, Rumble in the Garden, The UConn Blog, and VU Hoops. We unfortunately don’t have articles on all recruits, but we got some help in filling some blanks from our fellow Big East SB Nation sites. Some recruits have clickable names, which will take you to a relevant article regarding that player.
  3. I recommend viewing the spreadsheet externally, since you’ll be able to use things like filters (Google Sheets has that option on the top-left, next to the print button.) and Ctrl+F (Apple+F if you’re on Mac) to help make searching for recruits easier. You’ll also have a bigger screen/window to look at the spreadsheet: Big East Offer Tracker, last updated Aug. 3, 2020. Alternatively, you may view below.
