Big East offer tracker (Aug. 24): Recruiting update, final cuts, new offers, and more!

There weren’t any commits this past week, but a couple of Big East teams and fanbases were glad to hear they were in the final list for a few key recruits.

After a hot stretch of recruiting in July and August, where there were Big East commits each week, the momentum has slowed down a bit.

There weren’t any new Big East commits, but there are a couple of teams and fanbases that were excited to hear that their school made a few key commits’ final lists.

Here is all the action from this past week:

New offers:

  • 2021 guard Camryn Carter (Sorrento, La./East Ascension) received an offer from Georgetown.
  • Four-star, 2021 forward David Jones (Dominican Republic/Teays Valley Christian School) received an offer from DePaul.
  • 2023 guard Shawn Simmons (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends Central) received an offer from Georgetown.
  • Three-star, 2022 forward Jai Smith (Syracuse, N.Y./St. Thomas More) received an offer from Xavier.
  • Four-star, 2022 forward Cam Whitmore (Odenton, Md./Archbishop Spaulding) received an offer from Georgetown.

Final cuts:

  • Four-star, 2021 guard Tamar Bates (Kansas City, Kan./IMG Academy) trimmed his list to seven, Creighton made it.
  • Four-star, 2021 guard D’Marco Dunn (Tucson, Ariz./Westover) trimmed his list to seven schools, cut Marquette and Xavier.
  • Three-star, 2021 forward Kobe Johnson (Sun Prairie, Wisc./Nicolet) left off DePaul from his final five list.
  • Five-star, 2021 guard Hunter Sallis (Omaha, Neb./Millard North) included Creighton in his final 12 list, but cut UConn and Marquette.
  • Four-star, 2021 guard Brandon Weston (Brooklyn, N.Y./Morgan Park) included Seton Hall in his final six list, but cut St. John’s.

Non-Big East commitments:

  • Four-star, 2021 guard Frankie Collins (Las Vegas, Nev./Compass Prep) committed to Michigan, had Georgetown in his final eight list.
  • Three-star, 2021 forward James Graham III (Milwaukee, Wisc./Nicolet) committed to Maryland. Also had Georgetown and Marquette in his final nine list.
