Shortly after the Carte’Are Gordon news broke out, the Blue Demons didn’t waste much time to hit the market for another member of their frontcourt.
Gordon, who originally transferred into DePaul midway through last season, was supposed to be eligible to play for the Blue Demons in the second semester of the 2019-20 season. However, he’ll be hitting the transfer market before even suiting up for DePaul, leaving Dave Leitao and his staff to search for a new forward.
The Blue Demons hope that Coleman Hawkins (Sacramento, Calif./Prolific Prep), a three-star Class of 2020 forward, can be that player to fill in the missing gap.

Hawkins was offered by DePaul on Wednesday, adding to a list that includes fellow Big East member Marquette, as well as Arizona, USC, Washington State, Illinois, San Diego State, Nevada, Wake Forest, Rutgers, and a few others.
He’s listed as a forward, but Hawkins can practically play almost any position and guard them too. He has the quickness to take on guards, if he gets switched onto one, and the size and length to face off against forwards. He’s a versatile player with a solid shooting stroke to boot.
Hawkins has also played a point-forward role from time-to-time at Prolific Prep (Calif.), so he’s comfortable with handling the ball, taking it down court, and setting up his teammates when needed.
