It’s been quite the summer for Shakeel Moore (Greensboro, N.C./Moravian Prep).
He’s raked in over a dozen offers since the April recruiting period, with a bunch coming in throughout the summer.
A three-star guard according to 247 Sports, Moore has trimmed down his list to just seven schools. The Providence Friars are in the mix, but the same could not be said for the DePaul Blue Demons.
On Sunday, Moore announced that he will be focusing on Providence, Pitt, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Georgia, Tennessee, and N.C. State.

Despite his recent ascension on the recruiting front, the Friars were one of the schools that were on him early. Ed Cooley and his staff offered him last November, entering the scene before the rush of schools came in. As for DePaul, it had offered him in June.
It remains to be seen whether or not the advantage of forging a relationship with Moore will pay off for the Friars, but Friar fans must be pleased to know they’re in the picture for another 2020 recruit. As it stands as of Sunday, the Friars are also a finalist for five other Class of 2020 prospects.
Moore does have an official visit at Providence planned on the weekend of Sept. 13.
This past season, at Piedmont Classical, he averaged 15.1 points through 16 games of action. He was sidelined with an ankle injury, but came back strong in AAU play as a member of Team CP3 on the Nike EYBL.
For Team CP3, he averaged 16.8 points per game. His best stretch came during the Peach Invitational, where he averaged nearly 20 points during a five-game slate. It was the bounce back campaign he needed to help prepare him for Moravian Prep, where he will be transferring to for this upcoming school year.
