The Xavier Musketeers got another huge victory on the recruiting front on Wednesday, as four-star guard Colby Jones committed to the Musketeers.
Xavier just landed a commitment from 2020 target Colby Jones, a 6-foot-6 and 190-pound wing from Mountain Brook High School in Alabama. Jones is one of the top defenders in the country and plays with an extremely high motor. He's an efficient scorer and excellent rebounder. pic.twitter.com/hHN0ev9cwN

With Jones’ verbal, Xavier now has its third commitment within the class of 2020, joining other four-star recruits in Dwon Odom (Alpharetta, Ga./St. Francis) and Caleb (C.J.) Wilcher (Elizabeth, N.J./St. Benedict’s).
This past season, Jones helped Mountain Brook (Ala.) win its third-straight state championship. He was a newcomer to the Spartans, after transferring in from Pinson Valley. He started to draw the attention of college coaches and continued to gain more traction, as he took his solid play to the Nike EYBL circuit.
As a member of the Alabama Fusion, he averaged 16.3 points and 9.1 rebounds through 18 games of action.
Jones is an excellent slasher. With his quickness and athleticism, he’s able to drive inside with ease. He has the strength and skill to finish through traffic and is unafraid of contact. He has a solid jumper in the mid-range game, but his three-point shot is a work in progress. Despite this, he’s certainly a skilled scorer and can provide offense for his team with his work in close-to-mid range.
Defensively, the pride he takes on that end of the court is something to be happy with. He has great defensive instincts and is a disruptive force. He’s a great on-ball defender and seems to have a motor that never stops. His work on the glass is impeccable for a guard, and he takes the right angles to get to the boards. He’s a tenacious rebounder and a worker on the floor.
Jones chose the Musketeers over other offers from Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Stanford, Clemson, Iowa State, Harvard, Yale, Middle Tennessee, Samford, South Alabama, UAB, Troy, and Saint Louis.
