After trimming his list of offers in half less than a month ago, five-star guard Nimari Burnett has released a more finalized list.

The Marquette Golden Eagles had made Burnett’s first cut, but as the field of suitors shrank from 12 to five on Monday afternoon, the Golden Eagles found themselves on the outside looking in.

Unfortunately for Marquette, it didn’t land a spot in Burnett’s final five, as he announced he will be focusing on just Alabama, Louisville, Michigan, Texas Tech, and Oregon moving forward.

Burnett, a standout prospect from the class of 2020 at Prolific Prep (Calif.), was offered by Marquette over a year ago. Since then, he helped Prolific Prep to an impressive 30-6 record this past season. His solid play continued into the AAU season, as he helped Team WhyNot to the title game against MOKAN Elite at Peach Jam.

Team WhyNot fell in an 85-84 thriller, but it was a solid individual performance for Burnett, who had 22 points (9-of-11 shooting), 10 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in the loss. Overall, through 20 AAU games this past spring and summer, Burnett averaged 19.1 points per game.

Next season, he’ll be teaming up with another highly-touted recruit in Jalen Green, as Green comes to Prolific Prep.
