It feels like Zion Cruz’s recruitment is ready to break open at any moment. The Princeton, N.J. native just picked up his fifth offer of the year, with the latest coming from the UConn Huskies.

Cruz is considered one of the top players in the Class of 2022, and he’s listed as a five-star prospect according to ESPN’s 2022 Top 25 rankings.
Before UConn, he was also offered by the Seton Hall Pirates and St. John’s Red Storm this summer. He also holds offers from UCLA, Auburn, Rutgers, and Bryant.
This past season, as a freshman at Hudson Catholic (N.J.), Cruz averaged 9.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists through 26 games. The Hawks finished the year 21-6, making an appearance in the New Jersey Non Public B Sectional Semifinals.
Cruz is a talented young guard with solid athleticism and handles. He’s quick and shifty. He can penetrate defenses and attack the basket at will. A skilled slasher and finisher inside, Cruz also has great court vision and can set up his teammates. He’s a weapon in transition, but can generate some scoring in the half court as well.
