The Marquette Golden Eagles received some quality news on Thursday when combo guard Dexter Akanno committed. The Class of 2019 hooper out of Blair Academy in New Jersey is the first addition to Wojo’s 2019 recruiting class.
Akanno’s commitment bubbled up via social media. There was a posting on Ike Eke’s Instagram, and evidently that news rose to the surface. Until Akanno himself announced the commitment on his own Instagram.
Prior to his commitment, Akanno received offers from the New Mexico Lobos and Virginia Tech Hokies. There was also interest fielded from the Santa Clara Broncos as well as the Northeastern Huskies.
As of now, there are no recruiting rankings or star ratings to speak of with regards to Akanno. The Blair Academy guard is currently unranked and unlisted on 247Sports and 247Sports Composite. You would reckon that will change after the conclusion of the 2018-19 high school hoops season, or at least as it progresses.
As mentioned, Dexter is the first recruit for Wojo in the 2019 class. They currently have seven open offers out to the likes of Nobal Days, Matthew Hurt, Seth Lundy, Calvin Felder, Nico Mannion, James Bishop and Rocket Watts.
