It’s a great day for the St. John’s Red Storm. Class of 2018 forward Josh Roberts has committed to the Red Storm.

Roberts told Evan Daniels of Scout.com of his commitment to the program on Friday morning.

Currently, Roberts attends the famed Montverde Academy in Florida, where he will play ball in his senior season. He had spent time with the Southern Stampede EYBL team this past summer. In 16 games, on the Nike EYBL circuit, he averaged 6.1 points on a 59.0 percent mark from the field. He also averaged 6.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.

The 6-foot-8, 200-pound Roberts had interest from a few other high-major schools before his commitment on Friday. Auburn and Georgia were in on him, as well as VCU and Wichita State.

Josh Roberts is the first commit for St. John’s in their class of 2018. The Red Storm are hoping to add a few others on with two open scholarships left in the cycle.
