2018 four-star big man Ian Steere decommits from Creighton

The North Carolina native has reopened his recruitment.

Creighton received a bit of bad news this afternoon. Four-star prospect Ian Steere decided to reopen his commitment, according to Rivals.com.

The 6-foot-9 power forward from North Carolina cited distance and potentially being closer to home as reasoning for his decision. Steere gave his verbal commitment to Creighton this past summer.

This comes as unfortunate news for Greg McDermott and the rest of the Creighton staff. Steere was suited to be a stronghold in the Bluejays’ frontcourt down the road. The 2018 big man has good size and solid athletic ability. He’ll be highly sought after now that he’s back on the market.

Prior to committing to Creighton, Steere had offers from UConn, Florida State, Kansas, Louisville, Maryland and Tennessee among others.
