Udeze told Scout.com’s Evan Daniels, one of the ace recruiting reporters in the college basketball realm, that Butler along with Ohio State, LSU, Wichita State and TCU were his remaining choices.
He is coming off an official visit to Butler University, which took place back on August 26.
Prior to heading to the famed Montverde Academy, Udeze was hooping in the state of Texas. Udeze had attended Fort Bend Travis in Richmond, located just on the outskirts of Sugar Land and Houston. Udeze is a member of the Houston Defenders UAA team along with fellow Butler target Miller Kopp.
As it stands now, Udeze ranks 252nd overall in the 2018 class. He also ranks 21st among all centers and 24th in his new dwelling of Florida. Montverde teammate R.J. Barrett is the top player in Florida (and America) and fellow Montverde hooper Andrew Nembhard ranks 7th in the Sunshine State.
Frontcourt will be a huge need for Butler in 2018. That may very well be an understatement given their current roster. As of this moment, LaVall Jordan’s roster is only primed to have four players listing 6-foot-6 or taller. Two of which being Sean McDermott and Christian David, who are better suited as guards. Nate Fowler and Joey Brunk are certainly talented players in their own right. Shoring up the frontcourt with depth is a major priority however. It’s no surprise that they’re still pursuing Udeze along with Jaxson Hayes right now.
Landing Udeze would be a huge coup for them (as could landing his UAA teammate in Kopp). We’ll see how this pans out for BU. But for now, this is good news to sit on.
