The Xavier Musketeers got their first recruit for their 2018 recruiting class on Friday.
Big man Jake Walter committed to the Musketeers on Friday evening. He made the announcement on his Twitter account.

In adding Walter, they get plenty of length for 2018 and beyond. The native of Alexandria, Kentucky is 6-foot-10, 265 lbs. as he enters his senior season at Covington Catholic. He is also a member of the Indiana Elite AAU team.
Prior to his commitment on Friday, he held offers from Kent State, Bowling Green, Miami (OH), Indiana State, Ball State and Toledo, among others.
With Walter in, Xavier now has a building block for 2018. Their class ranks 7th in the Big East and 70th in America with plenty of time remaining in the cycle. They are still pursuing Jaxson Hayes, Eric Hunter and Aaron Henry and others. The Musketeers, of course, had the 11th best recruiting class in 2017. While it will take a hardened effort to reach that point again, you can't doubt coach Chris Mack at this point.
