Nichols had gotten an offer from Providence just recently on July 23. The Friars made the cut despite the late jump into the pool. Pitt and Georgetown, among others, had sent earlier offers to the three-star recruit. They, however, find themselves on the outside looking in now.
The 6-foot-8 Nichols ranks 178th overall in the class of 2018. Nichols also ranks 44th among all small forwards and fourth in his state. The highly touted Zion Williamson heads the group of SC recruits, followed by Rahsane Duncan and Aaron Nesmith.
Providence is looking to bolster their 2018 recruiting class. Headlined by AJ Reeves, the class also includes Raleigh's Kris Monroe. The Friars have targeted combo guard David Duke, who included them in his Top 5 on Monday.
