Greg McDermott’s class of 2018 grew to two on Thursday, as power forward Ian Steere verbally committed to the Creighton Bluejays on his Twitter account.

Steere, a four-star player out of High Point, North Carolina is a Top 10 player in his home state. The 6-foot-9, 230-pound Steere ranks eighth among all recruits from North Carolina, finding himself wedged in the company of power forward Immanuel Bates, shooting guard/VaTech commit Jarren McAllister as well as point guard Damon Harge Jr. Steere is also the 42nd-ranked power forward in the country and the 199th overall recruit in America.
The Wesleyan Christian Academy hooper had been fielding offers from a variety of schools prior to his commitment on Thursday. N.C. State, Louisville, UConn, Mizzou and Kansas just to name a few, as well as fellow Big East rep Seton Hall.
As mentioned, Creighton’s class of 2018 now increases to two players with Steere in the fold. Recently, the Jays landed Lees Summit, Missouri shooting guard Christian Bishop, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound small forward. With Steere and Bishop, Creighton’s class is now projected to be fourth in the Big East so far in 2018, leapfrogging DePaul for the moment. That will probably change when Tyger Campbell officially reclassifies, but nonetheless, the Jays have gotten off to a solid start for their 2018 class.
