Hudson Catholic (NJ) shooting guard Luther Muhammad is one of the top players in the state of New Jersey in the class of 2018. A news item on Friday regarding Muhammad comes a bit far away from Jersey City, however.

Elevate Hoops recruiting reporter Julius Kim tweeted out on Friday that Muhammad will be taking an official visit to Xavier in September from the 15th-17th. The Musketeers had been in to see Muhammad and NY Renaissance take on Mac Irvin Fire on the EYBL circuit, as the live evaluation period is in full swing.

The New Jersey shooting guard has been getting plenty of traction from a few other Big East schools, namely Butler, Seton Hall and St. John’s. The Red Storm, in particular, have been gaining a lot of traction lately (via his Crystal Ball) and they too, per Kim, were there to see Muhammad hoop on Friday as well.

Xavier is still seeking their first 2018 commit, as the Musketeers are one of five teams in the conference who are without commits thus far. Getting a player of Muhammad’s caliber would be quite the pull for head coach Chris Mack, who just pieced together the best recruiting class in the Big East for 2017 and one that ranks 11th in the nation, ahead of UNC, Florida, Villanova and Oregon among many others.
