Cole Swider is coming off a breakout performance during the two live periods in April and on Wednesday the Portsmouth, RI native cut his list down to eight schools. Four of the schools reside in the Big East. Swider, who is ranked 143rd in 247Sports’ composite national ranking, tweeted that Creighton, Indiana, Miami, Michigan, Providence, Syracuse, Villanova and Xavier are the eight schools he will consider going forward. He has visited all of the Big East schools as well as Syracuse but has yet to be on campus at the other three.

Swider was named Mr. Basketball in the state of Rhode Island after a big junior season under Coach Mike Hart at St. Andrew’s in Barrington, RI and he is back with BABC on the Nike EYBL circuit this spring and summer. Through 8 games last month, Swider is leading BABC in scoring at 20.6 ppg while also pulling down 6.0 rpg. He shot 42.1% from beyond the arc, including a 37-point performance in BABC’s second game of the EYBL opening weekend on April 22nd. He went 13/17 from the field in that game, including 7/9 from 3-point range. He had another 30-point performance last weekend in BABC’s win over Seattle Rotary where he wasn’t shooting well from downtown — just 2/10 — but got to the free throw line 9 times, making 8, and made 8/11 from 2-pt range.
