Thompson hails from Zionsville, located roughly 20 miles north of Indianapolis. So the BU staff certainly didn’t have to look too far to find their next 2019 target. He shares the thread of in-state recruits Butler is targeting with John Michael Mulloy and Trayce Jackson-Davis. Mulloy, a 2019 commit for Butler, hails from nearby Carmel. Jackson-Davis, meanwhile, resides in Greenwood. It’s evident that BU is trying to hit the ground running on Indiana recruits, and it’s a sound strategy, to be sure.
At the moment, Butler is the sixth school to offer Thompson. He has received offers from Kent State, Toledo, IUPUI, Miami (OH) and Purdue.
Isaiah Thompson is a three-star recruit per 247Sports Composite. The 6-foot, 165-pound point guard ranks 43rd among his peers at the position in the 2019 recruiting cycle. In Indiana, Isaiah ranks seventh among all players right now. 247Sports’ standalone rankings view him a bit higher, ranking him fifth.
