On Tuesday morning, the Marquette Golden Eagles received some good news. De’Vion Harmon, a point guard out of Denton, Texas, announced the final five schools he’s considering. MU made the cut along with four Big 12 programs — Baylor Bears, Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys and Texas Longhorns. Harmon announced the choices on his Twitter account.

Harmon was offered by Marquette back in June. He was one of a few players from Texas that MU was considering at the time, having sent out a flurry of scholarships to Lone Star State prospects. They are, of course, also in on Quentin Grimes of The Woodlands in 2018, so Texas seems to be a targeted area for head coach Steve Wojciechowski.

Oklahoma leads (albeit slim) in his 247Sports Crystal Ball right now. But, it’s merely three predictions at this point. There’s probably plenty of time to go, given that he’s a 2019 prospect. Marquette obviously had to have made an impression, considering the locations of the four other schools in his Final 5 relative to his location in Denton. That has to bode well for them, even from a baseline level.

De’Vion Harmon is a Top 50 prospect in 2019, ranking 42nd via 247Sports Composite. Harmon also ranks fourth in the state of Texas, standing in the company of Charles Bassey, Tyrese Maxey and Will Baker, two five-stars and one four-star. A four-star himself, Harmon is also ranked fifth among all 2019 point guards.
