Talen Horton-Tucker cut down his list to seven over the weekend. The Simeon Academy (IL) forward included two Big East programs in the crop, as the Georgetown Hoyas and Xavier Musketeers made the cut.

Also included in Horton-Tucker’s list are two schools from the Big Ten, one from the Big 12, one from the ACC and one from the Atlantic 10. The Ohio State Buckeyes, Illinois Fighting Illini, Iowa State Cyclones, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Saint Louis Billikens are all still vying for the four-star small forward from Chicago.
This development is particularly interesting because of a Big Ten school that’s no longer in the mix. The Michigan State Spartans had been thought to be the favorite to land Horton-Tucker. Evidently though, that’s no longer the case as MSU is no longer in the running. The Michigan Wolverines had recently hosted him as well back on September 21, but they didn’t make the cut, either.
That Georgetown and Xavier are still in the running for him is certainly good news. The Hoyas and Musketeers are both looking for their second 2018 commit. Landing a player of his caliber would certainly be a coup for both.
Talen Horton-Tucker ranks as one of the best players in the 2018 recruiting cycle. He ranks 109th overall in America in the class. At his position, Horton-Tucker ranks 28th. And finally, he ranks fourth among all Illinois prospects. That group, of course, is headlined by Morgan Park’s Ayo Dosunmu and also features Tim Finke of Champaign Central and Ty Mosely of Aasta-Orr.
