Isaiah Briscoe signs with Kentucky over St. John's

The best point guard in the Class of 2015 spurns St. John's to go to powerhouse Kentucky.

USA TODAY Sports

Isaiah Briscoe, the top-ranked point guard in the Class of 2015, has committed to The University of Kentucky, he announced Thursday night on ESPNU, dashing the hopes for Steve Lavin and the St. John's Red Storm.

For Briscoe, the commitment to Kentucky marks the end of a long recruiting road, dating back to June of 2012 when teams began offering him.

With the commitment of Briscoe, the Wildcats' Class of 2015 is looking predictably stacked, as they also will have highly touted forward Skal Labissiere joining them next season.

For St. John's, this is a crushing blow, as they lose out on a terrific player in Briscoe, who is a native of nearby Newark, New Jersey.

Connecticut was also in the running for the top-ranked point guard.
