The Creighton Bluejays will hit the floor on Sunday afternoon for the second game of the 2014 season. After a rousing performance against the Central Arkansas Bears, in which the Bluejays scored over 100 points, Creighton will square off with the Chicago State Cougars for a Sunday evening game in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Bluejays were led by a fiery attack by most of their guards and wings, as Rick Kreklow, Isaiah Zierden and newcomer James Milliken each were in double figures. Kreklow, a former California transfer, led the way with 18 points scored, with Zierden and Milliken checking in with 16 and 13 respectively. The defense was solid too, as they did a great job of limiting offensive rebounds for the Bears. This is something that the Jays were good at a season ago, when they ranked 25th in that category.
The low down on Chicago State is that they're an anemic team on offense and do not fair so well defensively, either. The Cougars gave up 86 points to Arizona State on Friday night, and allowed them to convert on an Effective FG% of 68.4 percent, and were even worse inside, giving up 69.7 percent of 2-point opportunities. That could spell trouble against this prolific scoring attack they'll run into at CenturyLink Center Omaha.
