The waiting is over, Georgetown fans: the Hoyas’ first game of the season has finally arrived.
Georgetown will be able to showcase the talent they have when they tip off what should be a wonderful season against the St. Francis (NY) Terriers, featuring the likes of Jabril Trawick, D`Vauntes Smith-Rivera, Mikael Hopkins, Joshua Smith and many more. It goes without saying that there’s an obivous talent difference between the two clubs. Georgetown is in a good position this year in the Big East Conference, and St Francis, on the flip side, is just trying to get their name out there with a lot of work to do.
Georgetown had a multitude of problems last year, and one of those was losing games that they should win. Hoyas head coach John Thompson III made sure to put an emphasis on that during their media day session in October.
Amongst a top-tier freshmen class, one youngster who should get a copious amount of playing time is L.J. Peak. Hoya fans should expect some exciting plays from this young man going forward, and today could be the start of something.
Based off looking at rosters and comparing talent, one would expect the Hoyas to run St. Francis out of the Verizon Center. With Georgetown being the No.2 team in the Big East Conference, they will need to play like that and simply cannot start off with a loss to an inferior squad.
