The Marquette Golden Eagles have landed a high-quality transfer.
Darryl Morsell, the former guard for the Maryland Terrapins, is on his way to Milwaukee. Morsell announced his intentions to transfer to Marquette on his Twitter account Monday:

Morsell was a four-star recruit and commit for Maryland back in 2017. He, at the time, ranked 74th overall in the class, fifth amongst combo guards, and third in the state of Maryland. He since carved out a very rock-solid career in College Park. He has averaged 8.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 45 percent from the field. His work on the defensive end certainly is his biggest attribute, though. Morsell was named to the Big Ten Conference’s All-Defense team and won the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year award just this past season.
That may perhaps be what Marquette fans want to hear right now. Landing Shaka Smart as coach was one thing to improve the defensive profile, but landing a player of Morsell’s caliber who won a major conference’s DPOY award? For MU fans, you love to see it.
