Optimism around the Marquette Golden Eagles is high. The Golden Eagles defeated the rival Wisconsin Badgers in their last go-around thanks to a last-second tip-in by Justin Lewis. They now stand at 3-1 on the year and will head into action again on Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles will host the Green Bay Phoenix in what is their fifth home game on the young season.

Green Bay has been listless to start the season. Will Ryan’s Phoenix have gotten off to an 0-3 start on the season. They’ve played the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Wisconsin and the Eastern Illinois Panthers. They were roughed up by the first two and lost a close one to EIU, falling 93-91 in double OT. The Phoenix were picked to finish eighth in the Horizon League this year , and thus far unfortunately that projection seems to be on the money prior to conference play beginning. This even with All-Horizon League First Team selection Amari Davis aboard for the ride.

The matchup to watch for here will be on the perimeter. Although they’re 0-3, Green Bay has been a very good defensive team on the perimeter. The Phoenix have allowed just 29.6 percent of 3-point attempts to be converted on them. They face a Golden Eagle offense that has hit on 36.4 percent of their 3-point tries. That ranks 72nd in the. nation thus far and is nearly four percentage points above the D1 average of 32.7 percent. Given that everything else is a matchup nightmare for the Phoenix, this will be the most intriguing game within the game on Tuesday evening.
