After a gutty win over Penn State in overtime, the Seton Hall Pirates improved to 2-3. They’ll now seek to get to .500 on Tuesday as they take on the Wagner Seahawks.

Wagner has yet to play a game this season, so Seton Hall will be their first test. They come off a year in which they went 8-21 and 5-13 in the Northeast Conference. They were picked to finish eighth in the preseason poll for the NEC, only ahead of the likes of Central Connecticut and Sacred Heart. Granted, there is room for improvement of course. With four starters returning, including seniors Alex Morales and Nigel Jackson, this could be a much-improved ball club in the 2020-21 season. It’s yet to be seen of course, so this game will be an early test for Bashir Mason and his Seahawks.

Seton Hall will hope to build off their solid showing against Penn State here. In particular, the Pirates ideally would like to replicate their success form inside. They cut the Nittany Lions up, shooting 65.9 percent on 2-point tries. Wagner allowed 51 percent of 2-point attempts to be converted on last year, so it may again be a weakness the Pirates can exploit. Wagner was also horrendous at defending on the perimeter last year. Seton Hall has gotten it going from outside this year, shooting 37 percent from deep. If the Seahawks haven’t refined their perimeter defense, then it could be bombs away on Tuesday.
