Providence vs. Alabama 2020: Time, TV channel, watch online, odds

The Friars look to close out their stint in the Maui Invitational on a high note.

NCAA Basketball: Providence at Villanova Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Providence Friars are still in the thick of things this week. After edging the Davidson Wildcats on Tuesday, the Friars are back at it on Wednesday. They play the Alabama Crimson Tide in the evening to wrap up their run through the 2020 Maui Invitational in Asheville. Only 2020 with that last sentence, folks.

The Crimson Tide, like the Friars, are 2-1 as well. They, just like the Friars, won their opener (vs. Jacksonville State), lost their second game (vs. Stanford) and won their third game (vs. UNLV). The only real difference between them and the Friars is that their MOV has been vastly different. They won by 12 over UNLV and 24 over Jacksonville State. Providence of course ran Fairfield out of the gym, but only won by one point over Davidson.

Sophomore guards Jaden Shackelford and Jahvon Quinerly will be ones to watch. They’ve accounted for a lot of Alabama’s possessions and shots so far during this early run. Herbert Jones and John Petty should also be keyed in on, as both have shot the ball rather well in the early goings. Petty has also been terrific on the defensive end as a shot-blocker.

Both these teams have pretty similar profiles this year. Neither do anything particularly poorly, so this is a pretty even-sided matchup. KenPom has these teams ranked 57th (Alabama) and 61st (Providence) so it will be very intriguing to see how these teams match up with each other.
