Joey Hauser and Sam Hauser to transfer from Marquette

This is a bit of a bombshell, to say the least.

Big news out of Milwaukee: The Hauser Brothers are on their way out.

The Marquette Golden Eagles officially announced Monday afternoon that both Sam Hauser and Joey Hauser are intending on transferring from the program. The program made that announcement known on their Twitter account.

Sam has averaged 12.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per. game in his career, with marks of 47.7 percent form the floor and 44.5 percent from 3-point land. Joey, meanwhile, averaged 9.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in his freshman season, while shooting 44.7 percent from the floor and 42.5 percent from beyond the arc.

Both figure to be big players on the transfer market. Michigan State and Virginia are already rumored destinations for the Hausers according to Mark Miller of the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook.

This is, without putting it so lightly, a humongous loss for the program. Both Hausers, especially in the case of Sam, were expected to be huge contributors in the 2019-20 season. It was for that reason that MU was beginning to be projected very highly in way-too-early poll ranking posts all across the board. Obviously, that may no longer be the case, though they’ll likely still be pretty good with Markus Howard around.
