Winners of their last four games, the Georgetown Hoyas are back in action on Saturday afternoon. The 8-3 Hoyas will step into the Capitol One Arena against the 6-7 Samford Bulldogs of the SoCon.
Samford comes into this one having lost their last two games to the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and the Alabama Crimson Tide. They’ve lost four of six dating back to November 27, having been axed by the South Dakota State Jackrabbits and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, with wins against only Auburn Montgomery and Houston Baptist to speak of lately.
Senior guard Josh Sharkey is doing it all for them. The country’s second-best assist man by Assist Rate and sixth-best player in Steal% has been on a role lately. In his last three games he’s piled up a whopping 35 assists and 14 steals, with two games of 15 assists, including his last outing against Alabama. Seriously. The kid is pretty damn good. If anybody from Samford is going to present a problem for Georgetown, it’s Sharkey.
How will things shake out in this one? We’ll soon find out. Georgetown’s a heavy favorite, unsurprisingly. They’ve done very well against the spread of late. They’ve won six of their last seven games ATS after starting off 0-4 on the year, their lone loss ATS coming in their stunning loss to the UNC Greensboro Spartans a few weeks back.
