The Friars hope to get back to their winning ways as they go up against the Peacocks.

On the heels of their first loss of the season, the Providence Friars are back in action Saturday. The Friars were tripped up by the Northwestern Wildcats earlier this week as part of the 2019 Gavitt Games, but they are hoping to turn that into an anomaly instead of a trend.

In order to do so, they’ll have to take down the not-so-mighty Saint Peter’s Peacocks. The Friars are set to host the Peacocks early Saturday afternoon in Friartown in what should prove to be an easy contest for them. Saint Peter’s currently ranks 336th on KenPom, and they’re not projected to do many good things in the MAAC this season.

The Peacocks have played just one game thus far this season. That took place this past Wednesday, when the Bryant Bulldogs took them down 69-44 in the Peacocks’ season opener. Saint Peter’s made just 16 shots on 63 attempts and went a ghoulish 4-for-20 from beyond the arc. Offense was very hard to come by as only one player, Quinn Taylor, was able to get into double figures and, in general, above seven points.

I’d expect a bounce back for the Friars here. Unless their bad shooting woes made the trip with them from the Chicago suburbs, I think they’ll be able to maneuver their way through Saint Peter’s with relative ease. The inefficiency and ineffectiveness that the Peacocks possess will be far too much for them to overcome. Providence’s arsenal of guards should be able to let them take hold today.
