The Marquette Golden Eagles and St. John’s Red Storm will square off Sunday in Milwaukee in a game that was added to the schedule after UConn’s modified pause.
Marquette comes into this game having lost two straight games and falling to 8-8 on the season. The Golden Eagles are desperately seeking a win, as their schedule gets a bit tougher over the next few weeks.
St. John’s is one of the Big East’s hottest teams at the moment, having won three straight games to pull to 10-7 on the season. Red Storm forward Julian Champagnie currently leads the Big East in scoring with 19.7 points per game. In the last game these teams played, a 73-71 Marquette victory on January 16, Champagnie had 20 points.
Marquette had double-digit scoring outputs from four different players in that game, and that is likely something the Golden Eagles will need again Sunday. They will not beat St. John’s with just one player scoring. They need a group effort.
