The DePaul Blue Demons picked up their first win of Big East play Saturday afternoon, coming away with a 68-61 victory over the Marquette Golden Eagles in Milwaukee.
Charlie Moore and Javon Freeman-Liberty did the heavy lifting for the Blue Demons, combining for 40 of DePaul’s 68 points and going a perfect 15-15 from the free throw line.
Marquette struggled to get much going on offense aside from DJ Carton, who finished with a career-high 23 points and a team-high four three-pointers.
The Golden Eagles have now lost to DePaul in each of the past two seasons, and five times overall under Steve Wojciechowski.
Both teams will be back at it Wednesday, with Marquette heading to Rhode Island to face Providence, and DePaul hosting St. John’s.
