DePaul picks up victory over Valparaiso

DePaul moves to 2-4 on the season.

For the first time in 2021, the DePaul Blue Demons are in the win column.

DePaul picked up its first victory of the calendar year Saturday at Wintrust Arena with a 77-58 win over the Valparaiso Crusaders.

DePaul had only a couple days to prepare for Valpo, adding this game following last week’s cancellation against Georgetown. The Blue Demons sure looked ready to rock on Saturday, though, with Romeo Weems leading the way with 20 points.

Pauly Paulicap finished just shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

The Blue Demons got out to a big lead and never looked back, going up 32-9 just ten minutes into the game behind hot shooting from the entire team. It was a great display of offense from a team that hasn’t had the best luck this season with actually getting to play their games as scheduled.

Former Seton Hall Pirate Eron Gordon led Valpo with 12 points. DePaul returns to action Tuesday against Butler.
