The Creighton Bluejays will take on the St. John’s Red Storm in the first of four Big East Tournament games going down on Thursday.
The top-seeded Jays split the season series against the Red Storm, as each team picked the other off in their respective home dwellings. CU defeated St. John’s 94-82 back on February 8, and then the Red Storm knocked them down 91-71 at Carnesecca on March 1. Safe to say, it’s a tale of two games, and we’ll certainly see what goes down in this upcoming rubber match.
Creighton and its assembly of talented shooters and scorers stand a firm chance of advancing into the semifinals. But let’s not count out the Red Storm, who obviously have had a penchant for giving teams fits all season. Even if the record doesn’t suggest as much, St. John’s shouldn’t be counted out of this one.
I would still likely side with Creighton in this one. Even without Marcus Zegarowski, who underwent surgery, I still believe this team has enough to get through the pesky Red Storm. Time will tell to see what happens after this game for them. But for now, I see the blue squad triumphing over the red squad.
