Villanova looks to avoid first four-game Big East losing streak since 2012 as they host Marquette

Will the Wildcats get back on track or will their slide continue?

NCAA Basketball: Villanova at Marquette Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The Villanova Wildcats (17-6, 7-4) find themselves in rare territory Wednesday as they welcome the Marquette Golden Eagles (17-6, 7-4) to the Main Line.

The Wildcats have dropped three straight conference games for just the third time since 2012, and are looking to avoid their first four-game conference losing streak since that year.

It’s not necessarily that anything has gone horribly “wrong” for the Wildcats in this slump. They’re a good team getting beat by other good teams. Having to face Creighton, Butler, and Seton Hall all in a row is tough. Having to face Marquette at the end of that stretch is even tougher.

The Golden Eagles already have a win over ‘Nova this year, as Markus Howard and Koby McEwen led Marquette to a 71-60 victory on January 4.

Can Howard and McEwen do it again and pull off the sweep? Or will Collin Gillespie and Saddiq Bey continue their strong offensive play and lead ‘Nova to victory?
