The Creighton Bluejays are back in the top 10 of the AP Poll!
After coming into the season at #11, Creighton jumped up to #9 in this week’s poll following their win over North Dakota State on Sunday afternoon. The Bluejays likely could have jumped even higher had they been able to play more than one game, but such is life in 2020.
The Bluejays will have chances to keep improving this week, starting Tuesday against Nebraska-Omaha. Creighton is 40-3 all-time against the Mavericks, but this is the first meeting since 1995, meaning it’s the first D1 vs. D1 meeting, as the Mavericks jumped up in 2011. While it likely won’t be much of a competitive game, it should be fun from a storyline perspective at the very least.
Omaha is 1-2 on the year, having lost to to Austin Peay and Abilene Christian and defeating Middle Tennessee State.
The Mavericks have had turnover issues and issues defending the three this season, something Creighton could certainly exploit, especially considering the Bluejays shot just .229 from three in their season opener. We’ve all watched enough Creighton basketball to know it’s just a matter of time before they break out and get hot.
