The Seton Hall Pirates (!6-4, 8-0) wrap up a three-game homestand Saturday afternoon as they welcome the Xavier Musketeers (13-8, 2-6) to Prudential Center for the second meeting of the season between the two schools.

The year’s first meeting, played January 8 in Cincinnati, saw Seton Hall pick up an 83-71 victory over Travis Steele’s Musketeers. Myles Powell led the way with 24 points and nine rebounds, but Jared Rhoden (16 points) and Quincy McKnight (15 points) also made their presences felt, showing how this Seton Hall team is so dangerous, even without Sandro Mamukelashvili.

The rich get richer, though, as Mamukelashvili made his return Wednesday evening in Seton Hall’s win over DePaul. The junior big man played just five minutes and scored just one point, but head coach Kevin Willard noted that the first couple games for Mamukelashvili will be getting him back into the swing of things after missing seven weeks with the wrist fracture.

After taking a tough double OT loss to Marquette to fall to 2-6 in Big East play, the Xavier Musketeers are suddenly in a bit of a tailspin, going 1-5 over their last six Big East games. A road win over a top-10 team in Seton Hall would certainly go a long way in getting Xavier’s season back on track, but it’s a tall order for the Musketeers. Xavier has been offensively inconsistent throughout the season, and Seton Hall boasts the Big East’s best defense (and the nation’s sixth best, per KenPom). Combine that with going on the road, and it will be tough for Xavier.
