Verba de Ludorum
The Cintas company is all about providing quick and easy solutions to all of your business’s needs. They’ll launder your wears, provide safety equipment, and replace mats inside of your business to give it a brand-new and fresh look.
This is only the tip of the iceberg of what Cintas does. If you own a business, chances are you’ve been contacted by a Cintas salesperson. It’s what they do.
Splashed across Xavier University’s homecourt is the Cintas branding. It’s synonymous with Musketeer hoops. It’s one of the premier basketball arenas in college basketball, giving an intimate feel to Cincinnati’s top rated private university.
It’s also a basketball court that eats up Bluejay players and spits them out into the void. Isaiah Zierden and Maurice Watson Jr., have both fallen victim to the Cintas. Last year, Damien Jefferson logged 20 minutes against the Musketeers in a losing effort and didn’t hit double digits in minutes afterwards. The year before featured Martin Krampelj logging 22 minutes at the Cintas, proceeded to tear his ACL the next game against Marquette, then never played another game for the rest of the season.
Marcus Zegarowski broke his hand against Xavier in Omaha last year. I blame the Cintas Center.
Xavier and Creighton have had their share of classics. The 2002 tilt comes to mind, with Kyle Korver scoring 32 and David West scoring 28 in a Xavier win. It’s always seemingly fun until the finite details are revealed that these are hell games. Pure hell. Nothing redeeming.
If one could, it’d be wise to burn sage previous to every Jays/Musketeers game. Purify the arena. Then pray. Pray no one gets hurt. Pray that we’re able to watch something entertaining.
Just pray for us all.
