The DePaul Blue Demons will be without head coach Dave Leitao for the first three games of the 2019-20 season, as he has been suspended by the NCAA as a result of a violation of ethical conduct rules.
The NCAA found that Leitao “did not stop or prevent violations from occurring in his program” stemming from an incident where a former associate head coach sent the former associate director of basketball operations to live with a recruit and help the recruit meet academic eligibility guidelines.
In addition to Leitao’s suspension, the program will be on probation for three years and have to vacate wins in which the player competed while ineligible.
Additionally, the former associate head coach has received a three-year show cause penalty from the NCAA.
The NCAA’s full release can be found here.
