What was always seemingly a foregone conclusion has finally come to be: The UConn Huskies will be returning to the Big East!
The news seemed to come out of nowhere, and escalated very quickly. It started with a tweet Friday evening from Digital Sports Desk.

By Saturday morning, The Hartford Courant’s Mike Anthony confirmed the rumor, then The Athletic’s Dana O’Neil confirmed UConn would be coming aboard.
I can confirm that UConn is awaiting official invitation to the Big East and a formal announcement of the move is forthcoming. First reported by @DigSportsDesk

UConn football likely lands in another conference or goes independent, starting in 2020 season.

It’s worth pointing out that the UConn Board of Trustees have their monthly meeting scheduled for this Wednesday, so a vote could possibly come then, though it’s not on the agenda as of Saturday afternoon.
